Furqan Nazeeri is a Partner at ExtensionEngine, helping universities, corporations and nonprofits develop online and blended programs that leverage the latest advances in learning science and technology to engage learners. He is a frequent speaker at conferences focused on innovations in online learning, including Open edX Conference, Reimagine Education Conference, LaunchLearn Across Boundaries Conference, among others. Furqan has 20+ years of experience building and managing high-performance teams. Prior to ExtensionEngine, he was a founder and CEO of VC-backed Pivot Inc. (acquired by NASDAQ:CME) and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Softbank Capital. Furqan has a BSE in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard University.
Andreina Parisi-Amon, Director, Teaching and Learning, Coursera
Dr. Andreina Bloom Parisi-Amon leads the Teaching and Learning Team at Coursera, where she focuses on enabling professors everywhere to transform their content expertise and passion into the world’s best online learning experiences. Through a deep knowledge of Coursera learners and cutting edge online course design, the team supports and spearheads educational research, L&D programs for partners, and the creation of courses that empower learners to achieve their goals. Outside of Coursera, Andreina is the VP of Programs for Miss CEO, where she strives to engage, empower, and support young women through the development of tailored leadership programs.
Norman Bier, Director, Online Learning Initiative, Carnegie Mellon University
Norman Bier has spent his career at the intersection of learning and technology, working to expand access to and improve the quality of education. He is currently the Executive Director of the Simon Initiative and the Director of the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) at Carnegie Mellon University. The Simon Initiative accelerates CMU’s unique research and educational technology ecosystem, applying learning science to improve outcomes for students at CMU and around the world. OLI, a recognized leader in open education, combines leading learning research with state-of-the-art technology to create scientifically-based courses that support learners and educators while engaging in ongoing research. Prior to OLI, Bier was Director of Training and Development at iCarnegie, a CMU subsidiary chartered to deliver software development education through international partnering institutions. His work included course, curricula, and program development; faculty training; and business development. His teaching portfolio includes computer science courses at the Community College of Allegheny County and philosophy and computer science courses at CMU. He was a founding member of the Cook Honors College at IUP. He serves on the boards of Shady Lane School and the NGLC-funded Kaleidoscope Initiative. In 2015 he was named a Top 30 Technologists, Transformers & Trailblazers by the Center for Digital Education.
